Summed up in Wikipedia-

The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskevidekatriaphobia, a word derived from the concatenation of the Greek words Paraskeví (Friday), and dekatreís (thirteen), attached to phobía (fear). The term triskaidekaphobia derives from the Greek words "tris", meaning 'three', "kai", meaning 'and', and "deka", meaning 'ten'. the whole word means three and ten. The word was derived in 1911 and first appeared in a mainstream source in 1953.

I think that it is amazing that a certain day and a certain number have such an affect on people. Apparently injury incidents are actually lower on Friday the 13ths because of peoples fear. Industry actually looses loads of money on these days.

What is it really all about?
It is just a number and a day.

Maybe it was the impact of the terrifying movie that came out.
But there were only 12 of them which baffles me even more.
