Today, my mind worked so hard that it made my body tired. When I expressed this to a friend she said that it was stasis. I looked up the definition of statis.
Statis:
1) A state of balence, equilibrium or stagnation
2) Stoppage of a normal flow of body fluid or semifluid
This is not what I felt. It was more like my mind worked so hard that it physically made me tired. But I do not know of a place to input a definition and get a real word out of it. Plus this definition seems to contradict itself. It means everything in balence as it also means non-movement in a negative way.
However, "word of the day" made me wonder what the word of the day today was. Here it is.
Maelstrom:
1) A large powerful, or destructive whirlpool
2) Something resembling a maelstrom; a violent, disordered or turbulent state of affairs
Maelstrom comes from obsolete Dutch maelstrom, " to grind, hence whirl round" + stroom, "stream."
You never really know just how much you will learn in one day. If anyone knows the word that means "the brain worked so hard that the body is tired" please let me know what it is.
