Battle of the bands

What ever happened to the good old days of battle of the bands? I used to go to them all the time down in Santa Cruz and have such a blast. Last night I returned to the infamouse Aptos Club for a battle. It just was not the way that it had been for me five years ago. Same people, different bands....more loud music.
Had to keep taking breaks and going to the car to listen to music that I really liked.
My favorite thing about going to friends bands is watching their interactions on stage. That is really the reason why I go. That and to watch the crowd "go wild" for the band.
