Muir Woods

After living in the Bay Area for 5 years I finally made it out to the beautiful redwoods of Muir Woods yesterday. They are so amazing and huge!! It is hard to fathom the changes that have happened in the world throughout the life of a tree like that.
Went for a great hike watching the trees change with elevation gain from redwoods to douglas firs. So interesting the particularities that trees need to grow.
Had a gourmet lunch on the beach of salami sandwichs with delicious cheddar and garlic infused olive-oil. Just perfect.
It only rained for the first half-hour and then cleared up as if it knew I was not giving up on my day outside of the city.
I've lived here for 28 (almost 29) years and still haven't been to the Muir Woods.
