Road Trip

Words cannot describe the past week of my life. It is one thing to road trip across a country that you live in and understand. It is a completly differnt experience to road trip up a country where the language is not your first. Last Wensday we rented a car in Santiago and headed north to San Pedro de Atacama. The town is roughly 1800 kilometers north of the city. The entire seond day found us hurdleing through nothingness. That word has taken on a new meaning when there truely is no plant or animal for ten hours in a row. There are no words to describe the subtle changes that occured in the landscape.
Sunset over Valle de Luna was amazing, sunrise over the geysers just outside of the town was even better. Experienced the coldest temperature I have ever been in -10 degrees (and not american farenheight).
I do not want to return home tonight. The dreaded long flight, the dreaded return to reality. I know that someday I will return to this continent and want to do it sooner than later.
